Sunday 160. Road kill

Height of summer, and the road is punctuated with the bodies of young animals, whose short lives were ended by passing traffic as they explored their new world.

Sunday 160 is a challenge hosted by The Monkey Man. The idea is to write a story in exactly 160 characters.

How sad... A beginning a middle and a dead end. Great work, AJ

It always saddens me to see all the roadkill on an otherwise glorious country lane. When my boys were young, we would hold a minutes silence for any we saw when out travelling. They quite took to the idea and it had the added bonus of keeping the noise down when they had become too boisterous.

Gruesome but so true. Vehicles are such a huge part of natural selection these days. Thanks for playing along with the Sunday 160.
