Sunday 160

Landmark on my horizon.
Power towers are cursed by some
But announce that I am home.
Travelling by road, or rail or air,
Your curvaceous walls are
A welcome sight.

I remember seeing on that Tony Hart programme, a prize-winning painting of the cooling towers at Brimsdown which utterly delighted me, then realising that it had been painted by someone at my school. I pointed it out to my mother who was utterly bemused as to why anyone should want to paint 'such ugly things.'
Lovely picture this, too.

After the recent incident in Japan, I can so understand your mixed feelings. Thanks for playing along with the Sunday 160.

Interesting meme picture. I'm not sure I could have come up with something as delightful! Kudos to you.

wow!
That says a lot for sure!

For people who are on road for most of the time; small signals become great sings and even related to their day to day life!

Haven't really gone many places.. but I sure do the same.. :)

Weekend hugs xoxox

There used to be one solitary one near my home but it is gone now, replaced by a housing estate which is absolutely no good as a landmark at all, since it is down in a valley and invisible from afar.

Urban beauty is under appreciated.

We had a cooling tower just outside my city. I remember how sad I was when it was demolished - my drive home just isn't the same without it in my rear view mirror.

It has been replaced by wind turbines, which I also think are beautiful, though - at the other end of the river.
