FFF55 April 15: A memory

Some high streets are full of homes
And others are for shopping.
Some for strolling aimlessly
Or traffic never stopping
This one’s prettier than most,
Its stone-lined walls are blooming
With yellow blossoms piled up high
Their petals are perfuming.
It’s Hastings town, where I’ve just been
And a nicer sight I have never seen!

That's some of the worst poetry I've ever written, but making it an exact number of words and finding rhymes makes it tricky!

You can find better 55s at The G-Man's Blog!

But how can we criticise a poem about a place like Hastings? Nice one.

Hi Morning AJ .. love the sign - and the way the plants manage to attach themselves to all nooks and crannies. It looks like a wallflower? - so appropriate and they love poor soil.

Great 55 .. the main thing is you enjoyed & the photo matches so well .. cheers Hilary

Yes - it's a wallflower. And there was a lovely little creeping plant that I know as Kenilworth ivy but it probably has a very differetn name anywhere but Warwickshire (which is where I learned its name).

Hastings really is very pretty.

AJ...
Sounds like a quaint little place.
And it made for a lovely 55.
Thanks for playing today, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...Galen

It occurs to me I've never lived in a town that had a High street. Odd, that.

Hey, don't be so critical of your own poetry. I LOVED it!

My mother-in-law used to love any High Street too, she was such a Brit-o-phile. LOVED all things English and Welsh.

Pretty photo!

I always admire people who can write poetry, especially rhyming. Loved it!
