Nice post. I love ghost signs and often speculate on how old they are. They have been largely erased in this location because during the 60s, the local council commissioned several painters to paint various scenes on the end walls of houses and shops. This was a nice idea and produced all sorts of things from canal scenes where a canal used to run, through flying pigs near a butcher, to St George and the dragon, but these have since all gone too, so all the ghost signs were covered over twice.
There has indeed been a collective, and ongoing, photographic trawl of the country looking for Ghostsigns. Further information with links to the resulting archive can be found here: www.ghostsigns.co.uk
I'm trying to remember exactly where it is... I THINK it's Shepshed - but I'll need to check before I can add it to the archive. I've got a few I need to upload actually.

Thanks Sam - I should have put that link in myself really shouldn't I?
Cheers

To my knowledge your Star Supplies sign isn't in the archive so do consider adding to the collection.

There is a Hall Croft (see street sign) in Shepshed so that's probably right. This photo has a different street sign, but for the same street.
