Bah. Humbug! I don’t even want to think about Merry Christmas for at least two weeks, but by then all Yule stuff will have gone and Easter eggs will be on sale.

Sunday 160. Falling

This autumn seems confused: one minute it’s raining and blowing a gale; and the next there is golden sunshine and clear blue skies behind the yellowing leaves.

Water lapping, waves growling, sigh of surf on shore.
Rattling pebbles across sand and slow drag of kelp over rock.
Scuttling shell creatures.
Sound of the sea.

Height of summer, and the road is punctuated with the bodies of young animals, whose short lives were ended by passing traffic as they explored their new world.
