Like tea, we say, is a daily treat.
In boxes, although not on shelves.
It's completely clear in black and white.
Optimistic writers use a pen.
Do you need a clue? It's cryptic.
I am left blank.  Too down.

You have lost me completely. If my dad were still alive I would ask him, he was a wizard at crosswords, but I did not seem to inherit that gene.

My parents taught me to read by having me read out the clues to them. Apparently my childish lack of intonation helped them to understand. So I kind of learned it by default.
